Lebaran vs Clubbing *devilish grin*

Ok, lemme set d context. d clubbing thingy was at d beginning of ramadhan. in fact, its right on d first day. we just needed some fun and agreed to go to Cielo Club, one of d hip clubs in little west st. turned out it was techno nite and so we just pretended that we liked it. we went home early... at 2...

d late nite dinner @ chinatown was in d midst of ramadhan. we watched ang li's film n d 'hot' lengthy scenes just made us hungry hahaha

lebaran day was d highlight of d month, of course. first, we went to konjen's house @ scarsdale and then to d RI's ambassador for d UN @ ..somewhere else hahaha d food was ok... it just didnt taste authentic.. so, tis lebaran is no fun,but we did meet some new friends :)

(thanks to pete and nathan for letting me grab all d lebaran pics from their webs and to taufik for sending me d clubbing and chinatown

Kansas City, MO, Sept '07

I was invited by my dearest friend, Heather, to attend her parents' 40th anniversary and her welcoming party after returning from Indonesia at her hometown, Missouri. This visit was a truly mid-west-American experience. The food, the conversation with a truck driver @ a roadside and the party itself are a different experience from the one I get in NY. I enjoyed this trip A LOT :) Most of it because of the warm-hearted, welcoming family that invited me... d

Quarter Century Crisis

Of all the birthdays I have ever had in my life, turning 25 is the weirdest moment. I woke up this morning on my birthday with a very weird feeling asking myself “Am I really 25? THE 25?”

My childhood dream vision of myself at twenty-five suddenly crept into my mind, a tall, slim and long haired, successful, high achieving young woman at twenty-five who has it all. Now that I am actually turning 25, reality strikes me. I barely have all those physical characteristics I dreamed of. I have not achieved so much. And, there is no turning back.

I am sure each one of us had a childhood dream of being somebody at a certain age. Most of my friends consider 25 as the most significant age when all in the childhood dreams are supposed to be fulfilled. But, how many of us are left with a contradictive reality, leaving us with the feeling of dissatisfaction when turning a supposedly happy-go-lucky 25? Who says that we have to fulfill certain standards to be considered successful in our 25?

As I reco...

The torch that never burns out (A Tribute to My Guru)

That was at least my first impression about her. But, it turned out that her standards made me exceed my own expectations and saved me from the dark hole of other classes that I almost failed. Most of the reasons for that failure were simply because the English Department was not my first choice. But, she opened my eyes to the fact that I should not see the window that had already closed but that I should live up to the present that I had.

I had never imagined that four years later I would become her teaching assistant. She showed me in class how she was never reluctant to say thanks to the students when she learned something new from them. But, being her assistant was special because she taught me a lot more than just linguistics subjects and teaching methods. Every time we met, she always shared whate...
